Aberdeen closed by protestors

ANTI-aviation environmental protestors, who disrupted flights at Aberdeen Airport, have released themselves from their self-constructed ‘wire fortress’.

Police took the protestors from Plane Stupid into custody on their self-release. No flights were able to land or leave the airport for the five hours that the group was protesting, including to Heathrow, Paris and Amsterdam.

Plane Stupid said its protesters had dressed like property tycoon Donald Trump, who is backing the expansion of the airport after his plans to build a luxury golf resort in the area were approved.

Plane Stupid activists caused disruption at Stansted Airport in Essex in December last year by barricading themselves onto the runway.
