Action day to halt airfreight
05 / 11 / 2012
AIRFREIGHT is bracing itself for widespread ‘anti-austerity’ strikes in Europe this November.
European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) is planning an action day with strikes, demonstrations and rallies protesting against budget cut programmes in most of the 27 member countries of the European Union.
So far trade unions in Greece, Portugal and Spain have already called for a general strike on November 14, which will bring those countries to a standstill, warned analysts Freightwatch International.
Trade unions in other EU member states, such as France, Italy, Belgium, Malta and Cyprus, look set to join the movement albeit not with a general strike.
