AFRICAWEST Cargo Airlines’ director general has dismissed the company faces any problems connected with Cargoitalia’s bankruptcy.
The Togo-based carrier has temporarily replaced the MD-11F it leased from Cargoitalia – with whom it started weekly rotations to Togo in July 2011 – with a 747-200F.
“AfricaWest has been in the business long enough to have contingency plans in place in case a situation like that of Cargoitalia happens,” Yannick Erbs, AfricaWest Cargo director, comments. “We were able to provide a 747-200 as an interim aircraft without any disruption to our operations.”
