Air France-KLM cargo collapse

AIR France-KLM has revealed that its overall cargo traffic fell 20.4 per cent in December 2008 from the same time in 2007. Asia-Pacific traffic fell 29.2 per cent, the Americas by 13.6 per cent and Europe by 24.3 per cent.

The carrier had tried to mitigate forecast drops in demand by reducing capacity by 6.2 per cent from 2007 levels by its load factor actually fell 10.6 per cent to 59.6 per cent.

British Airways also saw a drop in demand with cargo down 14.3 percent in December, twice November’s fall of 7.2 percent.
