Airbus gets surprise order

AIRBUS has revealed an order for 52 A320s was made at the recent Dubai air show, worth US$4 billion. However, the manufacturer hasn’t revealed who the mystery shopper is.The deal was part of a total 74 sales at the show, which now takes the number of Airbus’ aircraft sold this year up to 225, although there have also been 31 cancellations, which take this back down to 194. Airbus still claims to have a target of 300 sales for 2009, but that figure is looking increasingly overoptimistic.Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Boeing has managed a grand total of 91 sales. It had originally sold 202 but there have been a wincing 111 cancellations this year-to-date, largely due to ever-increasing delays.
