Aircraft evacuated over bomb threat

A PHILIPPINE Airlines aircraft from Manila was escorted by police as it touched down at San Francisco Airport on 22 March following a bomb threat.

A telephone call was made to the Philippine Airlines cargo office at the airport prompting employees to call police.

On landing the aircraft was taken to a remote area of the airport and 337 passengers and 20 crew members were bussed to the airport’s federal inspections area while police and sniffer dogs searched the cargo area.

The threat was unsubstantiated and did not mention any particular flight, but police officers acted out of caution.
