AMI appoints Rinaldo Vels

AMI, which claims to be the world’s largest trade-only airfreight and express wholesaler, has appointed Rinaldo Vels to the newly-created position of vice-president in continental Europe.
He has spent 10 years in the airfreight industry working for forwarders, AMI’s parent Menzies Aviation and, most recently, as commercial director of Holland-based road haulage specialist Jan de Rijk Logistics.
Vels will be responsible for developing AMI’s business throughout continental Europe in which the company currently has a branch covering the Frankfurt market.
Based at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, Vels will report to Sharon Wright, AMI’s regional vice-president in Europe, who comments: “We believe that Europe presents substantial opportunities to further expand AMI’s reach, using the highly-successful model that was launched in the UK 37 years ago, and which has since been rolled out across the USA, Australasia, Africa and Asia.”
