AV Cargo’s latest MD-11F
07 / 03 / 2014
THE next MD-11 freighter to join charter airline AV Cargo’s fleet is due to start services to Africa this month.
The aircraft has completed detailed, scheduled maintenance and is now painted in the airline’s livery, chief executive Simon Clarke advises.
“The board is delighted that the company has achieved its ambitious targets, thus enabling additional aircraft to join the fleet,” he adds.
Africa specialist AV Cargo operates twice a week to Bamako, three times to Lagos and has added Monrovia to complement services to Port Harcourt, Pointe Noire, Ouagadougou and Freetown. Over the next few weeks and months additional destinations will be added.
The latest aircraft will enable further destinations to be added to the scheduled network as well as increase the number of rotations.
A further MD-11F is planned for delivery to AV in early 2014.
“We have worked hard to ensure a good service on the routes we offer into West Africa. This has given us a solid foundation to build our network further in preparation for the additional capacity,” adds Clarke.
With its base at Liege, Belgium, AV Cargo operates with a fleet of MD-11Fs, with the capability of uplifting 94 tonnes.
