Change of plan for Kingfisher’s cargo airline

KINGFISHER Airlines has launched a door-to-door express cargo service, Kingfisher Express. The same-day cargo service will launch with pick-up facilities at the six main metropolitan cities of Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi delivering to 18 cities. The new venture is a replacement to the originally proposed dedicated cargo airline, King Cargo. Kingfisher has been talking about launching King Cargo as far back as 2006, but never managed to get it off the ground. Now, with GR Gopinath’s launch of Cargo and Express Logistics, the idea has been abandoned and Kingfisher Express launched instead.Prakash Mirpuri, Kingfisher’s spokesperson said: “Kingfisher Xpress has been conceived with a view to serving the unmet needs of users who are looking for a solution which ensures that their shipment reaches the recipient’s doorstep on the very same day.”
