Charles Kendall Freight achieves AEO status

CHARLES Kendall Freight has become an accredited authorised economic operator (AEO), effective 25 February.

The company holds the highest level of AEO status with security and safety standards approved across all five of its UK sites.

AEO status will play a central role in the security amendment of the Customs Code (Regulation (EC) 648/2005), which came into force on 1 July 2009. The amendment aims to ensure an equivalent level of protection through Customs controls for all goods going through EU customs territory and stipulates that economic operators relevant must provide security data electronically before the goods enter or leave the EC’s Customs territory.

With the transition period due to close at the end of this year, all importers and exporters operating in the EU zone must comply with the changes in EU law or face potentially hefty government fines of up to £2,500 (€2,850).
