China Eastern drops Shanghai-LHR service
04 / 03 / 2009
AS of tomorrow, China Eastern is cancelling all of its flights from Shanghai to London Heathrow. The suspension of services will last for three months – to 21 June.
“These are difficult times,” a spokesperson said. “Demand for business class passengers has fallen sharply making the flights uneconomical.”
China Eastern used to fly an A330 on the route three times a week. Cutting the service will be a small step to relieving the cargo overcapacity that exists between China and the UK since the drop in Chinese exports.
