China Southern Airlines profits jump up

CHINA Southern Airlines has posted a year-to-date profit (at the end of September) of ?322 million (US$47.1 million), up 134.2 per cent from the same period last year. Freight volume 610,000 was tons, down 4.3 per cent year-on-year.“The company’s return to profitability is mainly due to reviving the domestic airline industry, increasing business revenue as well as decreasing cost,” it said in a statement, adding that an injection of ? 226 million operating profit in the third quarter managed to offset the first half of the year’s losses.
