Chinese cargo’s lukewarm comeback

TWO new freighters were added to the Chinese fleet during July, but that did little to lift volumes for the month.
Cargo traffic climbed only 0.8 per cent to 452,900 metric tonnes.
National airlines earned an aggregate net profit of CNY5.75 billion (US$900m) in July, down 1.7 per cent from a year ago. For the first seven months of 2011, Chinese carriers reported a combined net income of CNY18.79bn ($3bn), up 18 per cent.
July revenue rose 18.7 per cent year-over-year to CNY34.97bn ($5.46bn).
At the end of July Chinese airlines operated a combined fleet of 1,673 aircraft, up 16 aircraft over the previous month. During July carriers added one 777F and one 737F.
