Deutsche Post raided

GERMAN authorities have raided the offices of Deutsche Post (DP) in an investigation about phone-tapping at Deutsche Telekom (DT).

Prosecutor Friedrich Apostel stressed that DP was not implicated in the scandal itself, rather investigators were looking for evidence surrounding former chief executive Klaus Zumwinkel (right). Zumwinkel resigned from DT’s supervisory board last year following revelations of tax evasion. Former DT chief executive Kai-Uwe Ricke is also under investigation.

Zumwinkel’s homes in Cologne and in Italy as well as Ricke’s home in Switzerland have also been searched.
