DHL’s Southern trio

DHL Express is adding capacity thanks to an air service agreement with Southern Air Holdings to operate three new 777 freighters.

The first 777F will connect DHL hubs in Bahrain, Cincinnati (US) and Hong Kong (China).

“For the express services from Canada, Latin America and [the] US provided through our hub in Cincinnati to the Middle East via Bahrain, we are able to shorten transit times by as much as one full day,” Charlie Dobbie, executive vice-president global network operations DHL Express, said. “This is a significant advantage for our customers from the oil and gas, technology and communications industries.”

Southern Air expects to take delivery of an additional two 777s earmarked for use by DHL Express in March-April 2012.
