Fatal Russian freighter crash

LESS than two weeks after the Asiana freighter crash into the East China Sea, another freighter has crashed, this time in Russia.

The An-12, leased to private airline company Avis-Amur, crashed in the country’s far eastern Kolyma region, killing 11 people – nine crewmembers and two passengers.

The aircraft, which was delivering 16 tonnes of food products to Chukotka, caught fire and requested to make an emergency return to the city of Magadan soon after take-off.
