Finnair’s new Indian freight route

FROM 16 September Finnair Cargo will begin freighter flights to Mumbai (India) in co-operation with Nordic Global Airlines (NGA).

The new service between Helsinki (Finland) and Mumbai (India) will be operated once a week on an MD-11F.

Pertti Mero, vice-president global sales at Finnair Cargo, explained that the freighter service was born on the back of a successful passenger route to India.

“We have achieved recognition among our cargo customers in India and Europe for Finnair’s daily passenger flight service to Delhi. The new freighter services offer fast connections between India and northern Europe. There is a great need for cargo capacity especially between Nordic countries and Mumbai,” Mero said.

Finnair Cargo is a minority shareholder in Helsinki-based NGA, which began commercial operations this August.

In Asia Finnair Cargo also provides freighter service to and from Frankfurt (Germany), Hong Kong (China), New York (US), Seoul (South Korea) and Shanghai (China).
