GSSA update 9 February 2010

EFFECTIVE 1 February, US Airways has made Globe Air Cargo, part of European Cargo Services (ECS), its GSSA in the UK and Ireland.
Mark Pulling (right), managing director of Globe Air Cargo in the UK and Ireland, said: “This is a major success for us. On behalf of our airline customers we have established strong working relationships with hundreds of freight forwarders and courier/express companies in the UK and we will now be able to offer those customers direct routes and fast onward connections to important cargo markets throughout the USA using the US Airways’ network.
 AIR France KLM Cargo has been appointed general sales and service agents (GSSA) for Alitalia Cargo in Italy. This follows the company also being appointed Alitalia Cargo’s GSSA in Canada, Japan and the US and with the expectation that it will service all outstations on Alitalia’s network in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa by April 2010.
 PAKISTAN International Airlines is busy appointing GSSAs around the world. It has already made Kales its Danish agent and name agents in Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the UK. GSSAs for the UAE will be named soon.
 ETHIOPIAN Airlines has appointed Freight-In-Time (FIT) as its GSSA for Kenya. FIT will feed Ethiopian’s daily 767 flights from Nairobi to Addis Ababa.
 ISTANBUL-based Pegasus Airlines has appointed Air Berlin’s subsidiary Leisure Cargo as its cargo GSSA for Germany. Pegasus Airlines provides direct scheduled services between Germany and Turkey with a fleet of three Airbus A319s, two A320s and 19 B737s.
