Hactl announces May figures

HONG Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl), announced its air cargo tonnage throughput for May 2008. A total of 218,696 tonnes were handled in the month, representing a 7.5 per cent year-on-year growth. Cumulative tonnage from January to May 2008 was 1,058,889 tonnes, up 6.7 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Export volume in May registered a 4.4 per cent growth on a year-on-year basis to 118,217 tonnes. Aggregate export volume for the first five months was 575,741 tonnes, up five per cent compared with the same period last year.

Import volume for May and for the first five months were 59,310 tonnes and 280,553 tonnes respectively, up 9.7 per cent and 3.9 per cent year-on-year for the respective periods.

Transhipment volume continues to maintain a steady growth over the past few months. The transhipment volume was 41,169 tonnes in May, with a year-on-year growth of 13.9 per cent. Total transhipment volume for the first five months was 202,595 tonnes, up 16.3 per cent against the same period last year.
