Hactl scores a record year

HONG Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) handled 249,694 tonnes of cargo in December last year, a 7.4 per cent year-on-year increase over 2009.

This left overall tonnage handled in the fourth quarter at 765,677 tonnes, an increase of 9.5 per cent.

Total tonnage for the entire year was a record 2,899,603 tonnes, an increase of 24.8 per cent and 14.5 per cent against 2009 and 2008 respectively, and surpassing the previous record high of 2,632,300 tonnes achieved in 2007.

“2010 has been an extraordinary year of roller coaster recovery from the global economic downturn,” said Lilian Chan (right), executive director of Hactl. “Not only did our annual tonnage result reach pre-crisis level, but we also managed to achieve a number of new handling records that made 2010 a year of unprecedented success for our team here at Hactl.”
