John Batten joins Coyne

JOHN BATTEN, executive vice-president, global cargo, at ground handler Swissport, is to take over as managing director of all-cargo carrier Coyne Airways.
Batten, who has more than 35 years’ experience in the airfreight industry, will be based at the airline’s Dubai hub.
“John has a proven track record in our industry, and we are looking forward to him joining our team,” says Coyne Airways chief executive and founder Larry Coyne.
“It’s an exciting time for Coyne as we develop new business strands.”
Batten has been at Swissport for five years. He has also worked with Qatar Airways, where he was senior vice-president of cargo, worldwide, and spent 25 years with TNT.
“It is exciting to be moving to Coyne. There is lots of opportunity to grow the business, and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” says Batten.
Coyne Airways, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, has begun new destinations in Africa, working with regional partners to link the Middle East, North America and Europe with the African continent.
