Jordanian cargo airport delayed

JORDAN’S new freight airport has been delayed due to an appeal against its location. Local farmers protested that the proposed US$28.3 million facility would destroy one of the most fertile agricultural areas in the region.
The decision has now been taken to the committee stage but this was delayed because the chairman has been too busy.
“We will not decide when to conduct the visit or who the experts are that we need to consult until we hold the first meeting,” said house second deputy speaker Tayseer Shdeifat, speaking to the Jordan Times.
