Kuehne acquires another forwarder

KUEHNE + Nagel add North American freight forwarder Perishables International Transportation (PIT) to its portfolio as part of its ongoing expansion plan.
The move follows the Swiss logistics giant recently acquiring perishables logistics businesses in Australia, Europe and South America.
PIT’s Vancouver International Airport location provides access to all major airlines, allowing for shorter transit times for goods, such as fruits, vegetables and seafood, KUEHNE states.
Tim Scharwath, executive vice-president for air logistics, says: “The timing of this transaction ahead of the peak season is ideal and will also strengthen our position in the Canadian airfreight market.”
