LAN predicts 30 per cent rise in cargo for 2010

ENRIQUE Cueto, LAN Airlines’ chief executive officer, says the airline will increase cargo traffic by 30 per cent this year.

“Traffic growth for the region is very strong, save for Venezuela,” he said. “Chile has recovered from the fall in traffic following the earthquake.”

Growth in cargop traffic is “very strong, especially in Brazil,” Cueto said. So strong that LAN started freighter flights between São Paulo, Recife and Fortaleza (all Brazil) on 22 June.
