GERMAN ground handler LUG has won the tender to handle freight for IAG Cargo at the two leading German airports of Frankfurt and Munich.
The contract covers shipments on passenger bellies and full freighter flights and will raise LUG’s throughput by some 68,000 tonnes in Frankfurt and 850 tonnes in Munich.
IAG consists of BA World Cargo (BAWC), Iberia Cargo and bmi Cargo. BAWC had previously been a customer of LUG until three years ago.
“It is always very gratifying to see a customer return. We were able to win BAWC back with our superior service quality,” says Patrik Tschirch, managing director of LUG.
“Appointing a single ground handling agent for both airlines at Germany’s two major international airports is a step forward in realising our vision of a unified service across the board,” says Michael Schneider, BAWC’s area customer service manager in Germany.
