Mumbai price hike

MUMBAI airport is to increase its charges by ten per cent. In a letter to one of the owners, GVK Industries, the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that the airport could increase aircraft landing fees and passenger service fees from 1 January, 2009.
The increase is expected to raise Rs 35 crore (US$7.2m) to the airport’s annual revenue.
With international business nervous over resuming full contact with Mumbai after the terrorist bombings in November last year combined with the global economic downturn many are wondering at the wisdom of such a move.
Rumours suggest that Delhi International Airport will mimic the price increase.
