Paramount adds cargo division

INDIAN budget airline Paramount Airways is to launch a cargo division. Operating out of Chennai the division will focus on high-end freight.
Previously limited to the south of the country Paramount will also start to fly throughout the west followed by the north.
Managing director, Mr Thiagarajan, said, “We have been slow and steady in our growth and the same philosophy will be adopted for new markets this year. After having saturated and dominated our position in the south, we will now expand our presence in the west followed by the north. Our target is clear: to cover the entire western region by year-end and North by the end of 2010.”
Despite a slump in global demand for airfreight, internal Indian demand remains robust.
