Pennsylvania cargo airport under cloud

A PROPOSED cargo airport in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania has lost support of state leaders due to corruption and a drop in cargo demand.

Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives majority leader Todd Eachus said: “It is clear to me that all the questions need to be answered of the individuals surrounding the project. I’m going to suspend my support until all the questions are answered.”

A prime mover in the development of the cargo airport, lawyer Robert Powell, has been associated with the charging of two judges for bribery in an unrelated project.

Powell has not been charged but Eachus said that “under the circumstances, with the cloud over this project, it wouldn’t get funded”.

Remaining organiser, Michael Marsicano, remains committed to the cargo airport saying
“We have not dropped the ball. This started long ago before the judges or Bobby Powell or anybody else.”
