Premier League plan for Manchester

FAMOUS for its music and football Manchester UK looks set to join the air cargo premier league thanks to a US$158m plan.
Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has submitted an outline planning application for the development of a World Logistics Hub in the southern part of Greater Manchester’s Enterprise Zone at Manchester Airport.
Creating between 110,000 and 130,000 sq m of new cargo space, the proposed development is expected to generate more than 1,800 new jobs  over the next decade-and-a-half.
A spokesman says: “The North West of England currently produces approximately 60 per cent of the UK’s industrial output, a significant proportion of which is exported.
“World Logistics Hub will seek to capitalise upon this output, combining with the Airport’s existing cargo facilities at the adjacent World Freight Terminal, to create a world-class logistics district.”
