QANTAS Freight, which currently wet-leases three 747-400F freighters from Atlas Air, is reportedly considering a plan to lease a small number of 747-8F or 777F freighters, in an agreement likely to be announced in coming months.
Atlas Air has already placed its first three deliveries of 747-8Fs with British Airways, and is currently in talks with a number of additional existing and potential new customers regarding the leasing of further aircraft.
In related news Qantas Freight has appointed Lisa Brock to replace Stephen Cleary as executive manager freight.
Brock joined Qantas in 2000 with the strategy, mergers and acquisitions team, before holding a number of senior corporate finance roles. Brock later moved into the Qantas Freight business where she held strategy and commercial roles and has been responsible for overseeing the successful freighter programme. Brock will take up the new appointment on 1 May 2011.
