Royal Jordanian awards Globe GSSA contract

FOR its Austria and Eastern Europe network Royal Jordanian Airlines has awarded a cargo general sales and service agent (GSSA) contract to Globe Air Cargo, part of the ECS Group.

The full GSSA contract covers sales, marketing, operations and planning and also includes road feeder services from countries in Eastern Europe to Vienna (Austria) and trucking to points across Europe for cargo arriving in Austria from Amman (Jordan).

Globe Air Cargo’s representation for Royal Jordanian in Eastern Europe will cover Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

From Austria, Royal Jordanian operates a weekly 38 metric tonnes capacity A310-300F flight from Vienna to Amman and offers a further 10 tonnes of additional cargo capacity on its five-times-weekly passenger A320/321 services.

In addition to Amman, Globe Air Cargo will generate shipments for the airline’s extensive network of over 50 destinations, including its wide coverage of the Middle East.

Export cargoes to Jordan are expected to include pharmaceuticals, spare parts, machinery, chemicals and valuable products.

“Royal Jordanian is the first Middle East carrier is our portfolio in Austria. This contract will allow us to offer direct flights from Vienna to Amman with fast connections to the whole of the airline’s network,” Wolf Taborsky, managing director Austria and EEC, for Globe Air Cargo, said. “The weekly freight operation every Sunday is a premium product for our customers and will help us to grow the airline’s market share with new business to Middle East destination.”
