Schiphol to drop quarter of jobs

SCHIPHOL Group is to cut its workforce by up to 25 per cent over the next two years. The airport blames a heavy decline in traffic and increasing international competition for the decision.

By the end of next year, 10 to 25 per cent of the workforce will be cut at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (current workforce: 2,200) through natural attrition, outsourcing and job cuts. The board has agreed to draw up a redundancy programme with the trade unions in the short term. The Central Works Council will be invited to issue a formal opinion
