Security and efficiency top cargo concerns

SUSTAINABILITY will be the watchword at the next World Cargo Symposium.
IATA has announced that the WCS, now in its seventh year, will be hosted by Qatar Airways at Doha, Qatar.
The event, which runs from 12-14 March 2013, will explore the theme of ‘Action for Sustainability’.
Des Vertannes, IATA’s global head of cargo says: “The aviation industry continues through challenging times. Our discussions will focus on improving the sustainability of air cargo through an agenda for improving safety, security, efficiency and quality.
“These are big issues and we can only tackle them by building consensus across the complex air cargo value chain.”
Around 1,000 air cargo decision-makers are expected to converge on the event.
Key decisions are expected to be made on issues at the IATA cargo committee, in the plenary sessions and workshops, through the Global Air Cargo Advisory Group (GACAG) and the Cargo Executive Summit.
