Singapore Airlines names new CEO

SINGAPORE Airlines has made Goh Choon Phong (right) its chief executive officer. Goh replaces Chew Choon Seng, who retires at the end of the year.
Goh will take over from 1 January, 2011. He is currently executive vice-president for marketing and regions, as well as chairman of SilkAir.
Goh has worked at the airline since receiving his masters at MIT. As well as other senior management positions he was president of cargo for four years.
“It’s timely for me to hand over to the next generation and move on,” Chew said in the statement. “The business has regained ground lost during the recession of 2008-9, the company is profitable and on an even keel.”
