SriLankan starts UK cargo feed

SRILANKAN Airlines has begun a new ‘door-delivery’ cargo service in collaboration with Air & Cargo Services in the UK.

The service also offers customs clearance and documentation-handling in an effort to gain a competitive edge, the company said, adding delivery to any address in the UK will be within two working days, depending on the area.

“Airport-to-door delivery of our clients’ cargo will be one of our key competitive advantages in the near future,” SriLankan Airline’s senior manager cargo (worldwide sales and marketing), Ali Kamil said.

“Any charges on dutiable items will have to be borne by the consignee on delivery to the door,” the airline added.

Mahiman Yapa, cargo sales manager Sri Lanka, said the airline hopes to extend the service to other destinations in the near future.
