Swiss cargo strong but weakening in December

SWISS WorldCargo showed a positive overall trend for 2008 despite falling demand. Total cargo traffic was 7.3 per cent up in revenue tonne-kilometre terms; and cargo load factor (by volume) stood at a high of 83.8 per cent, only slightly down from the 84.6 per cent of 2007.

The economic crisis did have an impact on Swiss’s December results though with airfreight volumes 12.9 per cent below their prior-year equivalent in revenue tonne-kilometre terms.
