05 / 12 / 2013
SWISS WorldCargo has added Beijing as its third Chinese destination.
New direct flights between Zurich (Switzerland) and Beijing will carry up to 18 metric tonnes of cargo on an A340-300.
Swiss currently provides airfreight services on Swiss International Air Lines flights to Chinese destinations Hong Kong and Shanghai.
“China is the largest contributor to Swiss export growth, with a growth rate ten times faster than Swiss exports to the EU,” Ashwin Bhat, managing director Asia, Africa and Middle East, says. “It is therefore a great opportunity to position our brand and service quality in Beijing, our third online station within the Greater China area.”
In the past decade, the annual average growth rate of China’s export to Switzerland stood at 19 per cent while that of Switzerland’s export to China was as high as 29 per cent.
