Swissport appoints Qantas for LHR

SWISSPORT International has been appointed by Qantas Freight to provide cargo handling services at London Heathrow Airport. Operations started smoothly and successfully in mid-September. The new business is the third major win by Swissport Cargo Services UK within the last two months, following South African Airways and Finnair.
With the global airfreight business still far from fully recovered, new cargo handling agreements are more vital and valuable than ever and Swissport London Heathrow is delighted to have been awarded the Qantas Freight contract. The new agreement includes the cargo handling of the Australia-based carrier’s four daily passenger flights, as well as all trucking and off-line handling within the UK.
John Batten (right), executive vice-president cargo services at Swissport International, said: “Swissport and Qantas Freight already work together at a number of key international hubs. We are delighted to be able to take on this business for Qantas Freight in London and we’ll be doing everything we can to live up to the trust that has been placed in us and meet – and even exceed – the high standards that Qantas Freight expects in terms of quality and reliability.”
