The dash that turned into a marathon

CARGOLUX will receive the first two 747-8Fs on 19 September and 21 September respectively, two years after the initial delivery date.

Receipt of the first freighter will come exactly one month after the -8F received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency to begin commercial duties.

Cargolux has 13 of the aircraft on order. The 747-8F’s delivery date puts it ahead of the 787 Dreamliner, which is also delayed – it will be dispatched to All Nippon Airways on 26 September.

Boeing’s second-quarter profit has improved by 20 per cent as the company’s commercial aircraft business reported higher deliveries and revenue from services.
