RUSSIAN player Transaero Airlines has experienced a 35 per cent year-on-year leap in cargo volumes from January to July 2011.
The carrier transported 25,732 tonnes of cargo during the period and freight tonne-kilometres (FTK) flown by Transaero also surged by 27.5 per cent totalling 1.74 billion from January to July.
Transaero signed a Memorandum of Understanding in July with Airbus for the acquisition of eight A320neos.
“It was very important for Transaero Airlines to become the first A320neo customer in Russia, in the [Commonwealth of Independent States] and in Eastern Europe,” Transaero Airlines CEO Olga Pleshakova said. “It is important that this agreement will contribute to further growth of civil aviation in the country.”
