Unpaid leave for SIA staff

OVER 1,400 employees of Singapore Airlines (SIA) have taken voluntary unpaid leave. Most of these are cabin crew and will take periods of less than four weeks.

SIA is also aiming to introduce a shorter working month for all staff. Senior management have already adopted the change and talks are ongoing with company’s pilots to do the same.

In addition, 17 of the carrier’s over 100 aircraft are to be grounded for at least 12 months.

SIA’s freight capacity now stands at 56.7 per cent.
