Virgin Atlantic Cargo expands in Oz

VIRGIN Atlantic Cargo has signed a contract to manage Australia-based Strategic Airlines’ entire long-haul cargo activity on new Phuket (Thailand) and Bali (Indonesia) routes, served by an A330-200.
Strategic Airlines operates twice a week between from Brisbane and Melbourne (both Australia) and Phuket, and twice-weekly between Brisbane and Denpasar in Bali.
“Strategic [Airlines’] operation connects perfectly with that of our partner V Australia. The new agreement between Virgin Atlantic and Strategic ensures cargo from both Phuket and Bali can connect seamlessly with V Australia’s services from Brisbane and Melbourne to Los Angeles (US),” John Lloyd, director of Virgin Atlantic Cargo, said.

In related news, Strategic Airlines’ application to operate flights between Australia and China has been approved by the International Air Services Commission (IASC) with the airline to launch three A330 services per week. Routes are still to be confirmed but reports suggest the airline will fly from Brisbane to Beijing and Shanghai (both China).
