Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ An-124-100 freighter delivers telecommunications satellite

VOLGA-DNEPR AIRLINES has transported Turkish satellite operator Türksat AS’ 4A telecommunications satellite from Japan to Kazakhstan.
The outsize cargo was placed into a special container weighing a total of 60 tonnes, before being delicately loaded onto the Russian airline’s An-124-100 freighter.
During the flight and technical stops, a constant temperature of 10°C was maintained to protect the satellite’s sensitive technology, a statements says.
Technical experts from Japan participating in the launch of the Türksat 4A from the Baikonur Cosmodrom in February, also travelled onboard the freighter.
Last year Volga-Dnepr Airlines handled more than 50 space industry shipments. The carrier’s experience in delivering satellites and other aerospace apparatus spans more than 20 years and has involved more than 3,500 flights.
The Türksat 4A was manufactured by the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in Japan on behalf of the Turkish communications satellite operator. It will provide Turkey, Europe, central Asia, the Middle East and Africa with television broadcasting and broadband communications systems.
