Poland’s Airport City, envisaged as an international business and innovation district that is to be integrated with the country’s forthcoming Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) Airport, has moved one step closer to realisation following the signing of a cooperation agreement between CPK and the Łódź Special Economic Zone.
The deal is expected to support those involved in cargo operations in the Airport City area, amongst many others.
To be situated around the CPK Airport between Warsaw and Łódź, Airport City is expected to serve as “a strategic cornerstone of the national transport infrastructure programme and a rapidly growing international business zone aimed at attracting investment and driving innovation-led growth, a statement from CPK said.
The statement continued: “Airport City CPK will form a modern, multifunctional urban district integrated with the new airport.”
Airport City is to incorporate industrial facilities tailored to the needs of international travellers and global investors as well as hotels, office buildings and the like.
Cooperation outlined within the deal is to focus on exchanging expertise and knowledge related to developing industrial parks and “strategic facilities. Both parties will share essential know-how and contacts with expert organisations involved in their joint investments”.
Filip Czernicki, chief executive of CPK, said: “The partnership between CPK and the Łódź Special Economic Zone will allow us to exchange expertise on developing industrial parks and facilities essential to CPK’s long-term strategy,
“It will also support the creation of investment incentives and collaboration with start-ups in the future Airport City and Cargo City areas.”
Both Airport City and Cargo City are expected to play a key role in improving connectivity for the cities of Warsaw and Łódź.
CPK is scheduled to open its doors in 2032.
