Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) has announced the opening of the first development at its Global Logistics Park.

The US airport said in a LinkedIn post on 30 September that F&F's new 80,000 sq ft air cargo facility will expand its airfreight capabilities.

"Today we celebrated a milestone at CVG with the grand opening of F&F's new 80,000 square-foot cargo facility, marking the first development at our CVG Global Logistics Park," said the airport.

"This state-of-the-art facility features direct airside access and 18 truck docks, expanding our general airfreight capabilities and strengthening our position as a cargo leader.

F&F owners Fred Murphy, chief executive of FEAM Aero - which has developed two aircraft maintenance facilities at CVG, and Frank Tamanko, president of Cincinnati-based Bascon, invested in the facility, said CVG.

"Thank you to Fred Murphy and Frank Tamanko for investing in our region, and to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and leaders in Boone, Kenton and Campbell County for their partnership in making this project possible," added the airport.

In 2022, CVG demolished old cargo facilities to make way for new infrastructure to enable cargo carriers and freight forwarders to move products more efficiently.

Then in May the following year, CVG and Burrell Aviation Cincinnati said they planned to build an 80,000 sq ft air cargo warehouse facility with airside access on approximately 4.5 acres of airport property.

Other cargo developments at CVG in recent years have included a $192m DHL Express expansion, including a new aircraft maintenance facility, and a $1.5bn Amazon Air hub.

Despite CVG's efforts to facilitate cargo investments, air cargo volumes have decreased at the airport. According to the 2025 edition of ACI (Airports Council International) World's World Airport Traffic Dataset, CVG moved from 14th place in the 2023 rankings to 20th place in 2024. The airport experienced a volume drop of 10.8%.
