MSC Air Cargo has taken delivery of its second newbuild Boeing 777-200 freighter registered in Italy under the airline's European AOC (air operator certificate) as it continues to expand its fleet and network.

The capacity provided by the widebody 777-200F, registered as I-MSCB Bellatrix, will support continued growth on Asia–Europe corridors, said MSC, adding that further route details will be announced in the future.

Through this milestone, the company has expanded its capability to carry different types of cargo, including fresh, pharma, automotive, high-tech, perishables, aerospace, and other time-critical industries.

The aircraft was delivered by Boeing at its Everett complex in Washington, US during a formal handover and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The first 777-200F, registered I-MSCA Alfirk, entered service in 2024 with Milan-based airfreight carrier AlisCargo Airlines, after it was acquired by MSC the same year.

Anders Matikka, vice president of MSC Air Cargo, commented: “The addition of a second Boeing 777 Freighter operated by MSC Air marks another important step in our operational growth and commitment to the European market.

"This expansion enhances our capacity and operational flexibility, enabling us to provide even more reliable and tailored solutions for our customers. Our focus remains on delivering customer centric services that meet the evolving needs of global trade.”

Ricardo Cavero, vice president Boeing commercial sales & marketing Europe & Israel, also commented: “With today’s newest 777 Freighter delivery, MSC Air Cargo continues to invest in its future by further enhancing the capability of its global network.

"The 777 Freighter is the most fuel-efficient aircraft in its class and will connect MSC’s global gateways to key international markets, offering unmatched operating efficiencies. MSC Air Cargo’s continued confidence in the 777 Freighter program is testament to the airplanes outstanding capabilities in supporting global cargo demand."

MSC Air Cargo has been steadily expanding since launching operations in December 2022.

As well as the two 777-200Fs under the European AOC, Atlas Air operates four Boeing 777 Freighters for MSC Air Cargo under a long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) agreement.
