Tunisian carrier Cargo Wings Express has leased two Boeing 737-300 freighters from Cargo Air as it prepares to begin scheduled and charter ops

Tunisian carrier Cargo Wings Express has acquired two Boeing 737-300 passenger to freighter (P2F) aircraft as it prepares to begin operations.
The freighters were leased from Bulgaria-based Cargo Air and are 38 and 39 years old, according to Planespotters. Both aircraft are currently parked as the airline gears up for active service this year.
Cargo Wings Express will be based at Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) and intends to operate both scheduled and charter flights, covering general and specialised cargo.
The airline said last year it has signed a pilot training partnership with Simaero, focusing on Boeing 737 Classic pilot type ratings and instructor development.
The network is not yet established, but routes are likely to focus on Africa initially, before expanding to other global regions.
The company said on LinkedIn it has around 51–200 employees.
The cargo market in Tunisia includes established operators like Tunisair Cargo and Express Air Cargo. The latter was founded in 2015 and has operated scheduled services in Africa and Europe with a fleet of three 737-300 cargo aircraft.
As well as leasing aircraft, Cargo Air operates for express and mail operators such as DHL & UPS. It also offers ad hoc cargo charter flights worldwide, providing transportation of dangerous goods, special cargo and outsized loads for cargo brokers, freight forwarders and logistics companies.
