Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (Hactl) has added SolitAir to its customer base, the carrier having launched freighter services from its home hub at Dubai World Central to Hong Kong via Dhaka on 7 August.

The new flights are operated by a 22 tonne-capacity Boeing 737-800BCF aircraft. SolitAir plans to expand its fleet from three to as many as 12 aircraft in the near future in response to growing demand.

SolitAir’s 737-800BCFs are operated in partnership with ASL Airlines Ireland.

Hactl executive director – commercial and business development Joanna Li said: “We are honoured that SolitAir has selected Hactl to support its new freighter services into Hong Kong, and are fully committed to providing services which will support SolitAir’s future growth.”

Dubai-headquartered SolitAir began operating in 2024. Besides the new Dhaka/Hong Kong routeing, the carrier also flies to Bangalore, Erbil and Riyadh, and gained its AOC from the United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority earlier this year.

The airline intends to add services to Africa; the Middle East Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman; the Indian Subcontinent and the “Stan” countries – Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

In March, it was announced that Air Hungary had chosen Hactl to handle its new Airbus A330-200 freighter operations linking Budapest with Hong Kong – Hactl’s first new contract of the year.
