Mexican cargo airline Awesome Cargo has partnered with US freight forwarder ARC Global Logistics to launch a new air cargo route from Mexico to China, focusing on perishables.
Awesome announced the new Tijuana (TIJ) to Zhengzhou (CGO) route in a recent LinkedIn post.
The Mexico City-located airline said: "Awesome Cargo in conjunction with ARC Global Logistics Inc. are thrilled to announce the launch of the first-ever regular cargo flight transporting perishables from Tijuana (TIJ) to Zhengzhou (CGO) starting this Tuesday, May 6th.
"This groundbreaking flight will connect Mexico and China in just under 15 hours."
The flight serving the new route will take place every Tuesday evening, said the airline, based at Felipe Angeles International Airport.
Awesome did not confirm what aircraft would be used on the route, but according to Planespotters, the airline has just one Airbus A330-200F currently in service.
Awesome moves general cargo, pharma, e-commerce, live animals and perishables shipments. It also offers Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI), CMI and charter options.
The airline currently offers domestic routes, as well as flights to Asia Pacific and Latin America.
In October 2023, Awesome was granted permission from Mexico’s civil aviation regulator (AFAC) to operate chartered passenger and cargo flights.
At the beginning of last year, Awesome also requested a US foreign air carrier permit to expand its Airbus A330 operations to the US.
In December, Aweome started twice-weekly flights to Los Angeles (LAX) and Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO).
California-based ARC transports shipments across a range of verticals, including perishables, medical devices and equipment, aircraft parts and engines, and automobiles.
At the beginning of May, cool chain forwarding specialist Seafrigo said it would open new offices in Chile as part of efforts to expand in Latin America.
