Chinese freighter operator Suparna has added a new flight to Oslo Airport as it targets rising demand for Norwegian seafood in Asia.

The new weekly service started on 24 January and will operate between Norway and Shanghai Pudong International utilising one of the carrrier’s Boeing 777 freighter aircraft.

"China is an important and growing market for Norwegian seafood. With this route, we can offer an efficient and reliable transport solution that meets the requirements for quality and delivery time,” said Eva Beate Lande, cargo manager at Oslo Airport operator Avinor.

The service is the only direct flight from Oslo to Shanghai.

Avinor said in the press release that the service would contribute to faster and more predictable transport of time-critical goods, such as fresh salmon and other seafood.

"Oslo Airport is a central hub for Norwegian seafood exports, with a short distance from production to the airport and good infrastructure for refrigeration and handling services," the airport company added.

Suparna has been expanding its European connections in recent months. On 5 January, the airline expanded its Asia-Europe network with the addition of 777F flights connecting Chongqing and Liege.

The new connection will carry e-commerce goods, high-tech products, automotive components, and industrial cargo.

The airline added a second 777 freighter towards the end of last year, following the delivery of its first of the model earlier in 2025.
